In the past years, Contiweb has developed several innovative technologies that have led to substantial reduction of energy consumption: examples are the Gas Reduction Enhancement (GRE) and Ecobox upgrades for existing dryers, and our completely new designed Ecoset dryer for heatset web presses. The latter has even reduced the gas consumption during production from approximately 50 m3/h down to approximately 15 m3/h.

Besides a very substantial financial benefit for our customers, these measures have led to a greatly reduced carbon footprint of our industry – a “green” contribution of which we are very proud.

Since 2003 Contiweb has a succesful remoistening and silicone applicator system on the market. This system controls individually the oil and water content for each individual side of the paper. The function of remoistening is fully guaranteed and requires no special precautions.

Based on the experience with over 200 systems worldwide, Contiweb developed a new approach on how to use silicone better and more efficiently without losing any performance on the remoistening function: the Contiweb Fluid Applicator (CFA). This newly adapted technology and design guarantees a reduction of more than 50% of the current costs of silicone in web offset presses. The principal of the new system is based on the use of 100% silicone oil, mixed with the amount of remoistening water directly in the applicator trays, immediately before it is applied to the printed web. The stability of this mixture is low and the oil drops in the mixture have the benefit of offering better protection by using less silicone.
